About the role

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop and implement strategic communication plans to highlight research and innovation activities for the UBC Okanagan campus
  • Manage complex communications projects, including promotional campaigns across online, video, print, and social media platforms
  • Develop compelling content such as feature stories, news releases, profiles, and research impact statements for diverse audiences
  • Manage OVPRI-owned websites and social media channels, utilizing analytics to improve engagement and performance
  • Design and publish newsletters and marketing materials using tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, government relations, and university communications teams
  • Oversee digital asset libraries and ensure all deliverables meet UBC brand standards

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in communications or marketing
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities for various mediums
  • Proficiency with WordPress and other content management systems
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a post-secondary institution or a large, multi-faceted organization
  • Graduate-level education in a relevant field
  • Experience with photography or videography
  • Demonstrated ability to use Google Analytics to track digital performance metrics
