Communications Specialist

Responsibilities

• Develop strategic outreach plans and manage public awareness campaigns to support Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Services
• Create digital and print content in collaboration with the creative team
• Organize and host public outreach events, including public meetings, hearings, and stakeholder committee meetings
• Lead the activities and work products of a team of Communication Analysts
• Develop strategies to effectively engage and increase stakeholder participation
• Represent projects and clients in public settings and prepare conference materials
• Track and maintain training records and certificates for meeting attendees

Requirements

• 4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Journalism
• 7+ years of directly related work experience
• Experience in public sector communications
• Proven experience in media relations
• Experience working with transportation or large-scale infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and excellent customer service

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient experience in multiple communication channels, including social media and digital content development
• Knowledge of TIM services and related disciplines
• Understanding of the project development and NEPA processes
• Ability to travel as needed, including some overnight stays
