Communications Specialist

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated communication strategies to support infrastructure projects, community initiatives, and business priorities.
• Create audience-focused content for multiple channels, including digital, print, email, web, and customer outreach materials.
• Partner with cross-functional teams like Engineering and Real Estate to translate complex technical information into customer-friendly narratives.
• Lead customer engagement efforts, including public meetings and targeted outreach initiatives within the Pine Belt area.
• Manage communications workflows, including content development, review, and stakeholder coordination.
• Support storm and emergency communications, including availability for off-hours response as needed.
• Monitor and report on customer sentiment to refine communication strategies and improve outcomes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, advertising, journalism, or a related field.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to synthesize information quickly and produce high-quality content under tight deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
• Experience in the regulated public utility industry.
• Experience supporting crisis or high-pressure communications environments.
• Established community relationships within the assigned geographic service area.
• A professional portfolio of writing samples demonstrating impact and audience adaptation.
