About the role
Responsibilities
- Respond to all emergency codes and alarms according to departmental policies
- Activate key responders for emergency events and perform 911 calls to outside emergency services when required
- Monitor security radio channels and respond to requests from key responders
- Document and record all codes and code testing in the appropriate format
- Provide locating services for senior administrators, physicians, and medical personnel
- Use computerized paging applications to activate long-range pagers and mobile devices
- Operate telephone equipment to answer, screen, and connect internal and external calls
- Maintain application databases by entering, verifying, and updating information
- Maintain strict client confidentiality and protect sensitive operations
Requirements
- Completion of a 2-year community college program
- 2 to 3 years of practical and related experience
- Proven typing skill of at least 40 WPM
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including pronunciation and spelling
- Proficiency in navigating and using various Windows-based applications
- Excellent oral comprehension and expression skills
- Ability to make quick, accurate decisions under high pressure and stressful conditions
