About the role
Responsibilities
- Monitor inter-facility transfers and ensure proper communication links between healthcare providers for patient transport across Ontario.
- Receive and review telephone and web medical transport requests to ensure appropriate level of care requirements are met.
- Triage and document transport requests to ensure efficient, patient-centered delivery of medical transport services.
- Communicate effectively with Flight Planners, Paramedics, Physicians, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency calls in a demanding, high-pressure environment.
- Analyze issues, develop solutions, and execute plans both individually and as part of a team.
Requirements
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) in accordance with MOH Communications Service Review Standards.
- Medical background with related experience (e.g., Paramedic, RN/RPN, emergency, or clinical experience).
- Ability to successfully pass CritiCall pre-employment testing.
- Valid Standard First-Aid/CPR and AED Level C Certificate (valid for at least 24 months from hire).
- Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (ROC-A).
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work 24/7 rotational shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within the Air and/or Land Ambulance Transfer System.
- Previous dispatch experience.
- Ability to train and mentor others.
- Emergency Telecommunications Certificate.
