About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute internal (80%) and external (20%) communication activities for the Sumter plant
- Develop and implement a comprehensive plant communication strategy to strengthen reputation and employer branding
- Serve as the official spokesperson for the Sumter plant and build relationships with local media and community stakeholders
- Plan, write, and edit all plant-related materials, including press releases, speeches, and internal communications
- Manage internal communication channels such as newsletters, info boards, and town halls to drive employee engagement
- Act as a communication consultant to plant leadership on labor relations and organizational change
- Define and implement a crisis communication strategy and act as the designated speaker during crisis situations
- Coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities at the plant level
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
- 5 years of relevant experience in internal/external communications, media relations, or employer branding
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences
- Experience advising senior leadership and communicating with both management and shop-floor employees
- Ability to work on-site in the manufacturing plant 5 days a week
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (sponsorship is not available)
- Must provide a professional portfolio of relevant work during the application process
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of relevant communications experience
- Previous experience working in a plant-based, manufacturing, or industrial environment
