Communication and Public Relations Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic storytelling and identify compelling messages for various college constituencies
• Serve as the primary media liaison and spokesperson for the college
• Act as the editor and primary content creator for the college magazine, The Tartan
• Develop multimedia content including press releases, blogs, social media, and email communications
• Partner with senior leadership to develop executive communications, speeches, and talking points
• Manage crisis communications and serve as a primary administrator for the college's crisis alert system
• Coordinate internal messaging efforts, including campus Town Halls and institutional emails
• Maintain brand consistency by adhering to graphic standards and style guides

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in communication, media studies, or a related field
• Excellent written communication skills with experience in storytelling and marketing-focused writing
• Proven experience in building and maintaining strong media relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
• Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects under deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for major college events as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• At least three years of relevant professional experience
• Experience in communication and media relations within a higher education environment
• Experience working with underrepresented, first-generation, and diverse populations
