Commodity Manager Senior

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and administer complex procurement contracts to achieve cost savings and ensure delivery.
• Develop, evaluate, and manage strategic supplier relationships to meet material cost, availability, and inventory goals.
• Monitor supplier performance through regular assessments, audits, and performance metrics.
• Coordinate the procurement and qualification of new materials during the product design and development phases.
• Design and implement commodity procurement plans, including managing the transition of business to strategic suppliers.
• Develop inventory targets and monitor processes to forecast fluctuations and minimize obsolete or scrap material.
• Oversee Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs and collaborate with cross-functional departments like Production, Quality, and Finance.
• Provide guidance and daily direction to buyers regarding business partners and suppliers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, managing complex contracts, and vendor negotiations.
• Proven expertise in contract negotiation and strategic sourcing of goods and services.
• Proficiency with Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) and JD Edwards (JDE).
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Ability to travel domestically and potentially internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical devices and manufacturing processes.
• Experience managing projects from initial concept development through to implementation and evaluation.
• Expertise in international shipping requirements and Harmonized Tariff Codes.
