About the role
Responsibilities
- Negotiate and administer complex procurement contracts to achieve cost savings and ensure delivery.
- Develop, evaluate, and manage strategic supplier relationships to meet material cost, availability, and inventory goals.
- Monitor supplier performance through regular assessments, audits, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate the procurement and qualification of new materials during the product design and development phases.
- Design and implement commodity procurement plans, including managing the transition of business to strategic suppliers.
- Develop inventory targets and monitor processes to forecast fluctuations and minimize obsolete or scrap material.
- Oversee Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) programs and collaborate with cross-functional departments like Production, Quality, and Finance.
- Provide guidance and daily direction to buyers regarding business partners and suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, managing complex contracts, and vendor negotiations.
- Proven expertise in contract negotiation and strategic sourcing of goods and services.
- Proficiency with Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP) and JD Edwards (JDE).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to travel domestically and potentially internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical devices and manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing projects from initial concept development through to implementation and evaluation.
- Expertise in international shipping requirements and Harmonized Tariff Codes.
