Commodity Buyer

Responsibilities

• Lead the full sourcing process, including RFQ/RFI activities, technical reviews, and obtaining approval for new business awards.
• Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and products that meet organizational needs.
• Negotiate contracts for prices and terms with outside suppliers for both new and carryover components.
• Develop and maintain commodity strategies in alignment with organizational targets and regional needs.
• Manage supplier commercial issues and ensure compliance with GSM policies and procedures.
• Establish annual material budgets and perform monthly budget analyses.
• Work with suppliers and internal resources to identify, develop, and implement material cost savings.
• Develop new suppliers and disruptors to support the requirements of each product line.

Requirements

• 4-year University degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in the automotive industry specifically in direct material purchasing.
• Proven experience in commodity purchasing, such as Forgings, Stampings, Rubber, or Plastics.
• Proficiency in MS Office and strong analytical abilities in complex situations.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand basic engineering documents.
• Excellent negotiation, oral, and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.
