Commercial Tax Principal

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted tax business advisor, leading client relationships for middle-market to multinational commercial clients.
• Provide technical consulting on corporate and flow-through taxation, accounting methods, and ASC740.
• Research complex tax matters, respond to IRS inquiries, and provide strategic recommendations to clients.
• Coordinate with specialty tax practices including state and local, international, and R&D credits.
• Manage client engagement staffing, billings, collections, and overall engagement profitability.
• Drive business development through networking, relationship building, and participating in RFPs to acquire new clients and revenue.
• Mentor and coach staff, supporting their professional development and assisting in recruitment efforts.
• Participate in developing market positioning, branding, and strategy for the tax service line.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• CPA and/or JD certification is required.
• 15+ years of experience in public accounting.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience counseling and leading associates.
• Previous experience in an equity-holding role at a major public accounting firm.
• Must be local to Manhattan and willing to travel as needed to serve clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree or advanced certification in taxation.
• Proven track record of managing complex tax issues and developing long-term client relationships.
• Deep technical knowledge of flow-through entities, partnerships, and entity structuring.
