Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial and site laboratories, including implementation and maintenance of quality systems
  • Submit quotations and tenders to existing and potential clients
  • Ensure budget compliance and marketing to increase SGS footprint
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals and training for reporting staff
  • Ensure adherence to accreditation and Health and Safety regulations
  • Monitor test progress and perform final checking and approval of reports
  • Manage equipment calibration, repair, maintenance, and acquisition
  • Evaluate and approve suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Implement quality systems and complete documentation audits

Requirements

  • Relevant National Diploma (NQF 6) or Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering
  • Proficiency in English
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Competency in testing soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate
  • Familiarity with COLTO & COTO standards
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations
  • Ability to supervise and execute field work
