Commercial Garage Door Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair commercial garage door systems and dock equipment
• Install, service, and troubleshoot commercial hollow metal doors and frames
• Perform job site inspections to ensure safety standards and company expectations
• Maintain detailed job documentation including notes, diagrams, and photos
• Identify customer needs and recommend repair or upgrade solutions
• Follow OSHA safety guidelines and company best practices
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members
• Use company software and mobile tools to track jobs

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with commercial hollow metal doors and frames
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and hardware schedules
• Experience with commercial door hardware (closers, panic devices, locks, etc.)
• Experience with frame modifications and field measurements
• Ability to safely operate lifts, ladders, and power tools
• Ability to lift 75+ pounds and perform physically demanding work
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial door and hardware experience
• Experience with fire-rated openings and code compliance
• Experience with automatic pedestrian doors
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Experience with key systems and master keying
• Experience with access control and low-voltage wiring
• AAADM, OSHA 10/30, or First Aid/CPR certifications
• Manufacturer certifications (Assa Abloy, Allegion, etc.)
