Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Instructor

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in CDL vehicle operation, including tractor trailers and buses
• Teach parking maneuvers such as straight back, offset, and parallel parking
• Guide students through pre-trip and in-cab inspections
• Prepare simulator lessons, assignments, and tests while evaluating student performance
• Provide instruction on safe driving in city, highway, residential, and rural environments
• Demonstrate defensive driving, emergency handling, and vehicle maintenance basics
• Teach state vehicle laws, including speed limits, rights of way, and accident reporting
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and manage refueling and basic maintenance
• Maintain required paperwork for student and yard files

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record
• Two years of relevant experience
• Fluency in English and Spanish
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physical ability to climb in and out of trucks and buses and lift at least 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A License
• Teaching or law enforcement background
