About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain supply/demand balances for middle distillates across key global regions
  • Track refinery utilization, outages, maintenance schedules, and yield shifts impacting supply
  • Monitor global trade flows, arbitrage economics, freight dynamics, and blending opportunities
  • Build and enhance Python-based analytical tools, models, and dashboards to generate trading signals
  • Deliver bespoke analytical deep-dives on market structure and integrated value-chain dynamics
  • Support the evaluation of term deals, arbitrage strategies, and inventory positioning
  • Translate complex data into actionable market signals for traders and senior leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
  • 5–10 years of experience in refined products/distillates commercial analytics or trading support
  • Deep knowledge of middle distillates markets (ULSD, jet fuel, heating oil, AGO, gasoil)
  • Proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy) and SQL
  • Experience with ETRM systems (e.g., Endur, RightAngle, or Allegro)
  • Strong statistical modeling, econometric analysis, and forecasting skills
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at a major energy company or independent trading house
  • Exposure to both physical and paper distillates markets
  • Familiarity with renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and energy transition impacts
  • Experience integrating remote sensing, AIS/ship tracking, and satellite-based inventory data
