Commercetool Technical Lead

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using the commercetools platform and microservices architecture.
• Implement core commercetools components including Product Catalog, Customers, Carts, Orders, Pricing, and Inventory.
• Develop custom middleware, API integrations, commercetools extensions, and event-driven services using messaging systems like Kafka or SNS/SQS.
• Integrate commercetools with enterprise platforms such as PIM (Akeneo), CMS (Contentful), ERP, OMS, and payment gateways.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers and participate in defining backend development standards.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and secure backend solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain technical documentation, including architecture and API specifications.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, DevOps, and architects to deliver high-quality composable commerce solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven expertise in Node.js, Java, and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of composable commerce architecture and headless eCommerce solutions.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and GraphQL services.

Preferred Qualifications

• Senior-level hands-on experience specifically with the commercetools platform (APIs, GraphQL, custom extensions, and subscriptions).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience in Agile methodologies and consulting environments.
• Experience handling L3 or L4 level support within a support account.
