Commander, Police Academy

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and serve as the primary administrator for all Clark State Academies approved by OPOTA.
• Serve as the Commander of record with OPOTA, managing all audit documentation and maintaining required records.
• Ensure officer training programs meet state-required curriculum content and instructional hours.
• Recruit, hire, orient, and supervise instructors while fostering a professional Academy culture.
• Collaborate with the Academic Dean to develop and oversee the fiscal year budget.
• Provide student advising and mentoring throughout the Academy experience.
• Ensure proper accountability and storage of all Academy weapons and ammunition.
• Oversee regional Advanced Regional Trainings and manage student Security Cadets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
• Seven (7) years of experience as a full-time law enforcement officer.
• Two (2) years of experience as a full-time law enforcement supervisor.
• Valid OPOTA Unit Instructor certificate.
• Valid OPOTA Commander certificate.
• Valid driver's license and dependable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
