About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and perform trades studies to achieve programmatic targets
- Define requirements, test and flight qualification plans
- Work with interface owners like turbomachinery and engine systems teams
- Collaborate with manufacturing and build engineers to design cost-effective parts
- Work with test and launch teams to interpret data and provide solutions for high cadence testing and flight
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent
- 8+ years of combustion device design experience (Senior II)
- 12+ years of combustion device design experience (Principal)
- In-depth knowledge of combustion, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics
- Fundamental understanding of design principles and manufacturing methods
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline
- Advanced proficiency in NX, ANSYS Mechanical, StarCCM, MATLAB, and GD&T
- Proficiency in niche software: TDK, ROCCID, PERCORP, CEA, ROCETS
- Experience with reacting flow CFD
- Expertise in high-speed data/video analysis in time and frequency domains
- Experience designing reusable, propulsively landing rocket engines
- Experience in iterative and scrappy development environments
