Combustion Devices Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and perform trades studies to achieve programmatic targets
• Define requirements, test and flight qualification plans
• Work with interface owners like turbomachinery and engine systems teams
• Collaborate with manufacturing and build engineers to design cost-effective parts
• Work with test and launch teams to interpret data and provide solutions for high cadence testing and flight

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent
• 8+ years of combustion device design experience (Senior II)
• 12+ years of combustion device design experience (Principal)
• In-depth knowledge of combustion, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics
• Fundamental understanding of design principles and manufacturing methods

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline
• Advanced proficiency in NX, ANSYS Mechanical, StarCCM, MATLAB, and GD&T
• Proficiency in niche software: TDK, ROCCID, PERCORP, CEA, ROCETS
• Experience with reacting flow CFD
• Expertise in high-speed data/video analysis in time and frequency domains
• Experience designing reusable, propulsively landing rocket engines
• Experience in iterative and scrappy development environments
