College Counselor

Responsibilities

• Teach 11th and 12th grade college seminar courses guiding students through the application process
• Guide students in career exploration, personal statements, resumes, and financial aid applications
• Build a culture of college and career readiness through instructional signage and student advising
• Plan and execute events such as Career Day, SAT School Day, and College Visits
• Collaborate with parents and families through workshops and individualized meetings
• Build relationships with college admissions offices to advocate for students
• Support the planning and execution of college information sessions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum of two years experience in an urban district or charter school setting
• Experience working with high school students and families, preferably in an urban setting with BIPOC students
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Naviance, and PowerSchool
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to use data to drive improvements in counseling processes
