About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach 11th and 12th grade college seminar courses guiding students through the application process
- Guide students in career exploration, personal statements, resumes, and financial aid applications
- Build a culture of college and career readiness through instructional signage and student advising
- Plan and execute events such as Career Day, SAT School Day, and College Visits
- Collaborate with parents and families through workshops and individualized meetings
- Build relationships with college admissions offices to advocate for students
- Support the planning and execution of college information sessions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of two years experience in an urban district or charter school setting
- Experience working with high school students and families, preferably in an urban setting with BIPOC students
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Naviance, and PowerSchool
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to use data to drive improvements in counseling processes
