College Aide, Bureau of Food Safety and Community Sanitation

Responsibilities

• Report to inspection sites and return to the central office to enter logs and data
• Survey feeding sites at schools, day camps, parks, and playgrounds
• Inspect locations for vermin activity and food safety issues
• Test and monitor food temperatures and explain findings to operators
• Prepare statistical reports, answer telephones, and respond to inquiries
• Travel across all five boroughs to conduct inspections

Requirements

• Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school
• Freshman or sophomore status for this assignment level
• Continued enrollment while employed
• Ability to complete monthly training and earn a Food Protection Certificate
• Willingness to work part-time and travel citywide
