About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the building, management, and evaluation of library collections to support university teaching and research needs
- Analyze and administer the library's collection budget and coordinate development policies
- Perform original and copy cataloging for print, electronic, and special collection materials using LCSH and Dewey classification
- Manage the library's operational management system (OCLC) for processing, cataloging, and circulation
- Oversee metadata services, including developing workflows and implementing creative management approaches
- Engage with vendors, consortia, and stakeholders to curate resources that advance the university mission
- Collaborate with faculty and students to assess print and digital resources and support information literacy efforts
- Maintain collection integrity through weeding protocols, inventory assessments, and policy adherence
- Provide professional oversight and supervision to staff engaged in material processing
- Support library reference services through scheduled in-person and remote desk hours
Requirements
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library program
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in an academic library setting
- Proven experience with cataloging both print and electronic resources
- Experience working with an integrated library management system
- Proficiency with RDA and MARC cataloging rules
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising professional staff or student workers
- Familiarity with batch editing processes using OCLC or MarcEdit
- Experience with batch loading and maintenance of vendor catalog records
- Experience with EZproxy systems
- Advanced expertise with metadata schemas such as Dublin Core
