Coke Handler Trainee

Responsibilities

• Assist plant operations personnel with the drilling, handling, and movement of petroleum coke
• Safely operate pumps, heavy impact drivers, large overhead cranes, and coke movement belt transfer systems
• Perform routine maintenance on related refinery equipment
• Utilize computers for lab and equipment monitoring, turnovers, and routine duties
• Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations
• Perform general cleanup duties and other work as directed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid California Driver's License
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and physical examination
• Ability to pass a drug screen
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
• Ability to work in environments involving heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with liquids and gas processing equipment and procedures
• Prior experience in a refinery, chemical plant, power generation, or similar industrial setting
• Experience with conveyors, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
• Strong mechanical and computer skills
