Cobol Developer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain COBOL-based applications and mission-critical systems
• Analyze and troubleshoot complex COBOL code to identify and resolve technical issues
• Monitor application performance and perform root cause analysis for system disruptions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Implement software development best practices, including code documentation, testing, and deployment
• Maintain and improve code quality and automation within the testing area
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers
• Enrich procedures and documentation for production support and the development cycle

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology or a related demonstrated learning path
• Minimum 3+ years of proven experience in COBOL development
• Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and TSO
• Strong understanding of mainframe technologies and environments (Batch vs. Online)
• Proficiency in SQL
• Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Finance, Banking, or Insurance industry
• Knowledge of legacy system modernization techniques
• Understanding of IBM RTC tools
• Proficiency in French
• ITIL Certification
