Coatings Applicator

Responsibilities

• Apply paints, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to various surfaces according to safety guidelines and MSDS.
• Monitor machine gauges and equipment operation to detect and correct defects or deviations.
• Determine coating quality by performing visual inspections or using viscometers to check paint flow and viscosity.
• Weigh and measure chemicals, coatings, or paints before machine integration.
• Regulate machine settings including conveyor speeds, temperature, air pressure, and spray flow.
• Operate auxiliary equipment, pumps, and machines used in the coating and painting processes.
• Clean machines, related equipment, and work areas using water, solvents, or other cleaning aids.
• Perform test runs to ensure proper equipment setup and examine sample products for specification conformance.
• For Level III: Guide paint preppers, coordinate with material handlers/blasters, and assist the Foreman in overseeing projects and managing crews.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience levels based on role:
• Coatings Applicator I: 1-3 years of experience in Industrial Coating.
• Coatings Applicator II: 3-5 years of experience in Industrial Coating.
• Coatings Applicator III: 5+ years of experience in Industrial Coating.
