Coatings Applicator

Responsibilities

• Apply paints, surface preparatory materials, and undercoating materials to various surfaces in compliance with MSDS and hazardous materials guidelines
• Monitor machine gauges and equipment operation to detect and correct defects or deviations from standards
• Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality through visual inspections or viscometers
• Weigh and measure chemicals, coatings, or paints before machine integration
• Regulate conveyor speeds, machine temperature, air pressure, and coating flow using various controls
• Operate auxiliary machines, pumps, and equipment used in the coating and painting processes
• Perform test runs to ensure proper equipment setup and clean machines and work areas using appropriate solvents
• Examine, measure, and test sample products to ensure conformance to specifications
• Position spray guns and use hand tools to remove materials or work pieces from machines
• For Painter III roles: Guide paint preppers, coordinate with Material Handlers and Blasters, assign tasks, and assist the Foreman in overseeing projects

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Painter I: 1-3 years of experience in Industrial Painting
• Painter II: 3-5 years of experience in Industrial Painting
• Painter III: 5+ years of experience in Industrial Painting
