CNC/Manual Machinist

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC or manual lathes and mills to produce precision parts and instruments
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings to determine dimensions and configurations
• Program CNC controls and plan contour-path machining to control movement along cutting paths
• Analyze design data to select appropriate cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
• Perform quality work checks using precision measuring instruments to ensure products meet specified tolerances
• Write instruction sheets, cutter lists, and machine programs to guide operation
• Collaborate with engineers to produce high-quality parts according to engineered specifications
• Complete necessary quality and inspection paperwork

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Five years of experience operating CNC lathes and/or mills
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical diagrams
• Ability to program and operate CNC controls
• Experience with Mazak machine setup and programming
• Ownership of required tools of the trade
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
• Strong mathematical aptitude and understanding of geometric tolerances
