About the role
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various CNC and manual machines, including horizontal and vertical lathes, for turning, boring, and facing operations.
- Select and install tooling into tool posts, turrets, or indexing heads.
- Mount workpieces manually or using hoists and cranes.
- Perform machining operations on complex parts while minimizing scrap and rework.
- Read and interpret engineering specifications, process drawings, and blueprints.
- Make necessary machine adjustments using dials, switches, and offset/program controls.
- Conduct inspections using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with safety guidelines.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-3 years of machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in shop math and the use of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, dial gauges).
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
- Computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical Degree in manufacturing technology.
- Thorough knowledge of CNC machine operation, tool offsetting, and basic machine code.
