About the role
Responsibilities
- Machine parts to precise specifications using tools such as mills, lathes, saws, or grinders
- Perform rough and finish turning, drilling, tapping, boring, facing, and thread cutting on various ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools, including aligning holding fixtures and cutting tools
- Measure, examine, and test completed units using precision instruments like micrometers and Vernier calipers to ensure conformance
- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge
- Monitor machine feed and speeds during the machining process
- Maintain clean and orderly work areas and adhere to all established safety procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-4 years of machining experience, including machine tool setup and operation
- Proficiency in using precision measurement instruments
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations for tolerances and dimensions
- Experience working from drawings, route sheets, and technical specifications
