Cloud FinOps Platform Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build cost-aware platform foundations by implementing cost allocation standards, tagging, and labeling across cloud environments.
• Embed cost transparency into platform provisioning workflows and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates.
• Integrate and operate cloud expense management and optimization tools such as Flexera, CloudZero, or ProsperOps.
• Build and maintain cost dashboards, alerts, budgets, and reporting pipelines for engineering and stakeholders.
• Automate the detection of cost anomalies, unused resources, and optimization opportunities within CI/CD workflows.
• Partner with engineering, finance, and platform teams to improve cost accountability and provide guidance on efficient usage patterns.
• Manage cloud commitment strategies, including Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, to align with usage patterns.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, FinOps, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers, billing models, and usage patterns.
• Experience managing cloud commitment models like Savings Plans or Reserved Instances.
• Familiarity with cost optimization tools and FinOps lifecycle principles (Inform, Optimize, Operate).
