About the role
Responsibilities
- Direct the clinical care of sick and injured mice and provide bio-methods or surgical training to staff
- Serve as a veterinary member of the Animal Care and Use Committee, participating in protocol review and policy writing
- Respond to employee and customer inquiries regarding the care, health, and welfare of mice
- Collaborate with pathologists and the Biosecurity Officer to investigate unusual clinical cases or infectious diseases
- Participate in research studies, including data analysis and reporting
- Sign and negotiate health certificates
Requirements
- DVM/VMD degree and a valid U.S. license to practice veterinary medicine
- At least 2 years of experience working as a laboratory animal veterinarian
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse scientific disciplines
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a laboratory animal residency program
- Board certification or eligibility in a relevant veterinary specialty (e.g., ACLAM)
