Clinical Terminologist

Responsibilities

• Standardize medical data sourced from various health systems through terminology mapping and management
• Identify, create, or validate mappings between medical terms and standardized terminologies
• Provide subject matter expertise in data management to support clinical research
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, project management, and modeling teams, to improve data pipelines
• Perform data checks and edits to ensure high data quality and adherence to standards
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Actively participate in enhancing data management processes

Requirements

• Education in Medicine or related fields (e.g., Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Informatics, Medical Research, or Medical Coding)
• 2+ years of professional experience in the field
• 1+ year of practical application using clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT, RxNorm, or LOINC
• Medical coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCA, RHIT, RHIA, COC, CIC, or CCS-P)
• Strong understanding of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), including medical charts, medication lists, and lab reports
• Deep knowledge of medical terms and frequently used abbreviations
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Effective communication and project management skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience in clinical terminology mapping using SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm
• Experience in annotating training data for machine learning models
