Clinical Staff Pharmacist, Inpatient – Pediatrics

Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of medication orders by evaluating drug selection, dose, frequency, safety, and potential drug interactions.
• Support pediatric inpatient pharmacy services and participate in IV room rotations.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians in tasks including order entry, IV therapy coordination, and the preparation of medications.
• Monitor drug utilization and compliance with clinical pathways and IV to PO conversion protocols.
• Document clinical interventions to prevent drug-related problems and promote cost-effective therapy.
• Collaborate with prescribing physicians to clarify medication orders and suggest alternative therapies.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new pharmacy personnel.

Requirements

• Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency.
• Eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or an advanced degree.
• 2-4 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
• Board Certification in a relevant area of expertise.
• Experience in Oncology.
