About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations, oversight, and management of the Azar research lab
  • Coordinate all aspects of clinical research projects, including recruitment, data collection, and protocol implementation
  • Lead and support the research team, including hiring, onboarding, and training research assistants, students, and volunteers
  • Prepare and submit ethics applications and ensure all necessary regulatory documents are obtained
  • Identify funding opportunities and collaborate with the Principal Investigator to write grant applications and academic submissions
  • Oversee group finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation
  • Act as a liaison between researchers, funding agencies, and various internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum of two years of related research or administrative experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SPSS and other statistical software
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Experience with budgeting and financial administration
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Psychology, Health Sciences, Statistics, or Computer Science
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative epidemiologic research methods and study design
  • Previous experience working in a research capacity at UBC or within a health authority
  • Knowledge of clinical research and health authority protocols
  • Experience with social media, web development, or e-health technologies
  • Advanced ability to analyze scientific, statistical, and quantitative research findings
