About the role

Responsibilities

  • Interpret medication orders to ensure safety, proper use, and compatibility while preventing administration errors.
  • Monitor medication therapy for significant drug-drug, drug-diet, or drug-laboratory test interactions.
  • Act as a clinical consultant to physicians and nurses regarding pharmacokinetics and adverse reactions.
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition.
  • Review laboratory data, including microbial cultures and toxicology, to recommend medication changes.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare professionals on specific medications and therapeutic plans.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as cardiac arrests, to assist with medication management.
  • Document all clinical activities, interventions, and patient profiles within the Electronic Health Record.

Requirements

  • Active Clinical Pharmacist license in the state of Illinois (IDFPR).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a pharmacy residency program or equivalent hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Specialized training and knowledge in areas such as neonatology, critical care, or oncology.
