About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage patient flow and hospital capacity during non-business hours
- Provide administrative and clinical leadership to support hospital and nursing operations
- Assign and direct clinical and non-clinical staff as necessary to ensure appropriate care delivery
- Act as site commander for emergent issues and respond to hospital codes
- Liaise with internal and external healthcare professionals, families, and community members
- Ensure staff compliance with quality improvement programs and professional standards
- Facilitate professional development for staff and maintain personal professional growth
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Five years of relevant experience, including at least three years in an acute care setting
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- BCLS Level II certification (Basic Rescuer)
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Two years of progressive administrative experience in a nursing setting
- Critical Care experience
- Experience working in a unionized environment
- Membership in a specialty-related professional organization
