About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical leadership to the nursing staff in Children's Emergency Services at Mott Hospital.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, and measure safe, cost-effective, evidence-based care strategies.
- Lead clinical practice and quality improvement initiatives for the unit or program.
- Mentor nurses to acquire new skills, develop their careers, and incorporate evidence into practice.
- Create and revise nursing policies, protocols, and procedures using evidence-based information.
- Conduct comprehensive, holistic wellness and illness assessments for patients and families.
- Consult with other units and healthcare professionals to improve overall patient care.
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited graduate-level Clinical Nurse Specialist Program.
- Master's degree in nursing with a clinical focus.
- CNS certification recognized by ANCC or AACN.
- Current RN licensure and current CNS specialty licensure in the State of Michigan.
- Two years of experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (adult or pediatric focus).
- Minimum of five years of experience as a pediatric RN.
- Minimum of one year of RN experience in the ED or ICU.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience in a Level 1 Emergency Department in a tertiary healthcare environment.
- CNS Certification with a specific pediatric focus.
- Certifications in Emergency Nursing, ACLS Instructor, TNCC Instructor, or ENCC Instructor.
- Experience designing and implementing competency and education activities for nursing staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Continuous Quality Improvement process.
- Experience as a principal investigator or co-investigator on research projects.
