Clinical Nurse Specialist - Geriatric Emergency Medicine, Emergency Department

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive gerontological assessments using appropriate screening tools and clinical cognitive and physical assessments
• Identify high-risk patients to facilitate appropriate interdisciplinary follow-up
• Coach, mentor, and support staff in the development of advanced clinical skills and critical decision-making
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and perform administrative responsibilities
• Conduct nursing research activities and participate in education initiatives
• Serve as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other agencies
• Support the implementation of best practices and advancement of nursing standards in the Emergency Department

Requirements

• Master's degree in nursing or a recognized equivalent
• Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Five years of experience in an acute care setting
• Experience in nursing research methodology
• Proficiency in utilizing information technology
• Strong interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills
• Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialty certificate in gerontology
• Eligibility for cross-appointment to an academic institution
