About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive gerontological assessments using appropriate screening tools and clinical cognitive and physical assessments
- Identify high-risk patients to facilitate appropriate interdisciplinary follow-up
- Coach, mentor, and support staff in the development of advanced clinical skills and critical decision-making
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and perform administrative responsibilities
- Conduct nursing research activities and participate in education initiatives
- Serve as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other agencies
- Support the implementation of best practices and advancement of nursing standards in the Emergency Department
Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing or a recognized equivalent
- Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Five years of experience in an acute care setting
- Experience in nursing research methodology
- Proficiency in utilizing information technology
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty certificate in gerontology
- Eligibility for cross-appointment to an academic institution
