Clinical Nurse Educator

Responsibilities

• Support staff development and nursing education through coaching, mentoring, and designing learning programs
• Utilize assessment tools and testing methodologies to measure staff knowledge and clinical skills
• Collect and interpret data regarding employee learning needs through observation, interviews, and focus groups
• Design educational content including lesson plans, handouts, self-learning modules, and instructional manuals
• Collaborate with key staff to develop a comprehensive annual educational calendar
• Evaluate learning activities using objective performance criteria and recommend improvements to education plans
• Participate in the design of centralized and unit-based preceptor education and development initiatives

Requirements

• BSN required
• Minimum of three years of clinical practice in a specialty area
• Knowledge and previous application of adult learning principles
• Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., serving as a charge nurse, preceptor, or episodic teacher)
• Strong complex decision-making and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a related education field
• Specialty area certification
• Previous experience in a formal educator role
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams or nursing leadership committees
