Clinical Nurse Educator

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and evaluate educational offerings to improve nursing care and clinical outcomes within the Family Birth Center
• Conduct annual needs assessments through observation, interviews, and focus groups to identify employee learning requirements
• Develop core nursing competencies and specialty-based orientations for clinical staff
• Create educational materials including lesson plans, handouts, self-learning modules, and instructional manuals
• Utilize adult learning principles and various technologies to conduct diverse learning events
• Evaluate the effectiveness of all learning activities using objective performance criteria and data-driven measurement
• Lead educationally focused improvement efforts to enhance clinical and operational processes
• Support Medical Assistant orientation, onboarding, and competency development

Requirements

• BSN required
• Current RN Illinois license
• Minimum of three years of clinical practice in a specialty area
• Demonstrated leadership skills (e.g., serving as a charge nurse, preceptor, or episodic teacher)
• Knowledge and application of adult learning principles
• Strong complex decision-making and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a related education field
• Specialty area certification
• Previous professional experience in a nurse educator role
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams or nursing leadership committees
