Clinical Nurse Educator - Diabetes

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized diabetes self-management education to adult and pediatric patients and their families, including insulin administration and glucose monitoring.
• Educate patients on insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitors (CGM), and survival skills.
• Assess the learning needs of nursing and clinical staff and develop competency-based educational programs.
• Design and implement educational initiatives aligned with evidence-based practice and regulatory standards.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through learner feedback and outcome measures.
• Serve as a clinical subject matter expert and resource for interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) credential.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
• Strong knowledge of insulin pump therapy and diabetes technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Demonstrated ability to apply adult learning theory and patient education principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a related education field.
• Previous experience in a formal nurse educator role.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams or nursing leadership committees.
