Clinical Laboratory Technologist I

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory procedures including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, Sanger sequencing, and next-generation sequencing
• Execute both manual and automated techniques for high-volume sample processing
• Participate in equipment maintenance, QC/QA, and proficiency testing procedures
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and legible documentation for test results, maintenance, and quality control
• Troubleshoot assays with assistance from laboratory management
• Assist with the validation of new assays

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in biology or a related field
• NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (full or restricted to Molecular Diagnosis)
• Ability to work 5 days per week, including Saturdays as needed
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience in a clinical genetics laboratory
• Familiarity with Illumina and PacBio next-generation sequencing platforms
