About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform clinical laboratory testing, interpret results, and record findings
- Conduct quality control and proficiency testing to ensure accuracy
- Comply with cGMP requirements regarding test interpretation and validity
- Communicate and report test results to internal and external customers
- Process incoming patient blood samples and prepare laboratory reagents
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, safe work area
- Assume on-call responsibilities as required by the department
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or a related biological science
- Or four years of relevant work experience/specialized training in lieu of a degree
- Ability to work the 3rd shift (Wednesday–Saturday, 7:00 pm – 5:30 am)
- Ability to work onsite at the Hoxworth Blood Center
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with flow cytometry and molecular DNA testing
- Professional certification such as MLT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), BB(ASCP), or SBB(ASCP)
- Background in immunology and strong critical thinking skills
