About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Specimen Processing Department, supporting productivity and processing line workflows.
- Support the Specimen Processing Supervisor with task scheduling, team member 1:1s, and interview assistance.
- Perform quality and safety investigations, including root cause analysis and implementing corrective/preventive action plans.
- Create and edit standard operating procedures (SOPs) and support workflow and automation management.
- Assist with clinical lab training, reviewing materials, and identifying departmental training needs.
- Maintain accurate documentation following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and comply with Quality Management System policies.
Requirements
- High School Degree or General Education Diploma.
- 3+ years of experience in a laboratory, medical, or high-throughput environment.
- 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or coaching others.
- Working knowledge of CAP, GLP, GDP, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and internet navigation.
- Ability to work the 2nd shift (Tuesday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 11:30 PM).
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and handle bodily fluids/specimens following safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Experience troubleshooting laboratory automation and performing instrument maintenance.
- Experience with Lean methodologies such as Kaizen, Kanban, or root cause analysis.
