About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day specimen processing operations, including workflow leadership and lab logistics
  • Lead production workflow and perform automation troubleshooting and advanced instrument maintenance
  • Resolve advanced sample problems and conduct sample storage audits
  • Monitor production reports and progress toward departmental goals
  • Support employee development through mentoring, feedback, and training assistance
  • Assist in the review and editing of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain accurate documentation following Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety regulations and Quality Management System policies

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in a laboratory, medical, or high-throughput environment
  • 1+ year of experience leading, mentoring, or coaching others
  • Knowledge of CAP, GLP, GDP, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet navigation
  • Ability to work weekend overnight shifts (Saturday - Monday, 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and handle bodily fluids/specimens

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • Experience troubleshooting automation and performing instrument maintenance
  • Experience with Lean methodologies such as Kaizen, Kanban, or root cause analysis
