About the role
Responsibilities
- Obtain and process venous and capillary blood samples from patients of all ages
- Process clinical specimens for delivery to laboratory departments and reference laboratories
- Perform clinical support duties including identifying, collecting, and receiving specimens
- Assist in preventative maintenance and disinfection within the Specimen Processing area
- Ensure compliance with all safety, infection control, and OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen guidelines
- Travel to off-site locations for phlebotomy collections as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with clients
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to perform in emergent or crisis situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Phlebotomy training with a completed externship
- Previous phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience in clinical specimen processing
