Clinical Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process venous and capillary blood samples from patients of all ages
• Process clinical specimens for delivery to laboratory departments and reference laboratories
• Perform clinical support duties including identifying, collecting, and receiving specimens
• Assist in preventative maintenance and disinfection within the Specimen Processing area
• Ensure compliance with all safety, infection control, and OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen guidelines
• Travel to off-site locations for phlebotomy collections as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with clients
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to perform in emergent or crisis situations

Preferred Qualifications

• Phlebotomy training with a completed externship
• Previous phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting
• Experience in clinical specimen processing
