Clinical Lab Assistant

High School Diploma, Specimen processing experience preferred, Phlebotomy experience preferred
About the role
Responsibilities
- Receive specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS) and ensure accurate data entry.
- Input and retrieve laboratory results within the hospital computer system.
- Distribute specimens to the appropriate testing areas and ensure correct sample types, containers, and volumes.
- Perform waived testing under the direction of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
- Communicate specimen rejections and critical or notifiable results to appropriate clinical personnel.
- Collaborate with lab staff, nurses, and providers to ensure excellent patient care.
- Manage laboratory phone calls, triage inquiries, and coordinate courier pickups.
- Maintain laboratory records, including refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA logs.
- Perform phlebotomy and other specimen collections as required by department standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a general laboratory setting.
- Previous experience in specimen processing.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
