Clinical Instructor-Equine Practice

Responsibilities

• Instruct classroom, clinical, and laboratory courses for veterinary students, graduate students, and interns
• Provide client medicine and surgery services at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital with an emphasis on equine cases
• Participate in creative scholarship and collaborative research activities in equine practice
• Perform after-hours and on-call emergency duty
• Develop professional relationships with referring veterinarians
• Participate in state and national outreach and continuing education programs
• Collaborate with faculty to supervise staff technicians and animal caretakers

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree
• Clinical competence in medical and surgical management of large animals, with a specific emphasis on equine practice
• Commitment to the university's tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a diverse team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of postgraduate clinical experience
• Completion of a large animal rotating internship
• Previous experience as a clinical instructor in an academic setting
