About the role
Responsibilities
- Instruct classroom, clinical, and laboratory courses for veterinary students, graduate students, and interns
- Provide client medicine and surgery services at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital with an emphasis on equine cases
- Participate in creative scholarship and collaborative research activities in equine practice
- Perform after-hours and on-call emergency duty
- Develop professional relationships with referring veterinarians
- Participate in state and national outreach and continuing education programs
- Collaborate with faculty to supervise staff technicians and animal caretakers
Requirements
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Clinical competence in medical and surgical management of large animals, with a specific emphasis on equine practice
- Commitment to the university's tri-partite mission of teaching, research, and service
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a diverse team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of postgraduate clinical experience
- Completion of a large animal rotating internship
- Previous experience as a clinical instructor in an academic setting
