About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach clinical reasoning, medical interviewing, communication, physical examination, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and medical procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver interactive, competency-based instruction using approved departmental syllabi.
  • Administer timely and meaningful assessments for assigned units.
  • Collaborate with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met.
  • Mentor or advise students as assigned by the Department Chair.
  • Maintain professional ethics and respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • D.O. or M.D. degree from an accredited U.S. medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited residency training program.
  • Current board certification or board eligibility in specialty.
  • Valid unrestricted Texas medical license, or the ability to obtain Texas licensure in a reasonable timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of an ACGME accredited residency in a primary care specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn).
  • One year of post-residency or fellowship clinical practice.
  • Active use of osteopathic manipulation in clinical practice.
  • Experience teaching OMT to medical students, residents, or physicians.
  • Experience with case-based and active learning methods in small or large group settings.
  • Experience in computer-assisted delivery of course content.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
