About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and monitor changes in patient status.
  • Provide preoperative education, surgical checklist completion, and coordination of imaging and laboratory testing.
  • Conduct postoperative assessments, including wound evaluation, drain management, and pain assessment.
  • Deliver patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and recovery expectations.
  • Collaborate with neurosurgeons, neurologists, and rehabilitation specialists to ensure seamless care transitions.
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, imaging studies, and follow-up appointments.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient communications accurately within the Epic EMR system.
  • Support clinical operations through medication renewals, prior authorizations, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Precept and mentor new clinical staff, including Medical Assistants and junior nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent in education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of related clinical experience.
  • Current New York State RN license.
  • BLS certification.
