About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments and monitor changes in patient status.
- Provide preoperative education, surgical checklist completion, and coordination of imaging and laboratory testing.
- Conduct postoperative assessments, including wound evaluation, drain management, and pain assessment.
- Deliver patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate with neurosurgeons, neurologists, and rehabilitation specialists to ensure seamless care transitions.
- Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, imaging studies, and follow-up appointments.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient communications accurately within the Epic EMR system.
- Support clinical operations through medication renewals, prior authorizations, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
- Precept and mentor new clinical staff, including Medical Assistants and junior nursing staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent in education and experience.
- 2-4 years of related clinical experience.
- Current New York State RN license.
- BLS certification.
