About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-scope obstetric and gynecologic care to patients on the OB/GYN inpatient service.
  • Conduct physical exams, obtain medical histories, and formulate diagnostic impressions or differential diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement goal-directed treatment plans, including health maintenance and medical interventions.
  • Write prescriptions in accordance with New York State and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient care and meet clinical needs.
  • Perform quality assurance activities, including peer reviews and patient record audits.
  • Serve as a clinical preceptor for students and a resource for staff development.
  • Participate in approved research protocols and quality improvement activities.
  • Ensure patient safety and rights are maintained through adherence to institutional protocols and legal parameters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Master's degree in a health-related field (or Master of Science in Nursing) and certification as a Midwife from an approved program.
  • Current New York State Midwifery License.
  • At least 5 years of related clinical experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Availability for 12.5-hour shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of specific experience in OB/GYN.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and the ability to learn new clinical software quickly.
