About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery by performing history and physical examinations to establish presumptive diagnoses.
  • Manage patient care plans, including ordering laboratory studies and interpreting diagnostic tests such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs.
  • Perform minor clinical procedures, such as paracentesis, and assist medical staff with pre-, intra-, and post-operative surgical activities.
  • Provide comprehensive medical care and post-surgical management, including wound care and drain management.
  • Coordinate patient care plans, initiate specialty referrals, and serve as a primary point of communication for patients, families, and referring physicians.
  • Present clinical cases at tumor boards and develop materials for regional and national medical meetings.
  • Support research activities and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and symposiums.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited or New York State Education Department approved Physician Assistant education program.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and training.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related clinical experience.
  • Valid NYS PA License and NCCPA Board Certification.
  • Current BLS and ACLS Certifications.
  • Valid NYS DEA Certification.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions within a collaborative healthcare team.
